My kids and I loves going places to discover as a family. I
enjoy observing their look when they discover new things and when they are too
curious with their surroundings. This is one of the joys of motherhood that I
am very proud of and that I get to witness each of it.
Since my kids are homeschooled, few trips to educational
places are always on my list. I always see to it to be able to take them
whenever time and budget permits. I have been on the look for places where I
can take them and admittedly, some of it is not yet appropriate for their age.
But good thing there was an invite with one of the places I
have been wanting to go to which also tickled my curiosity, which is the Museo
Pambata (Children;s Museum). Admittedly, when I was in grade school, there were
only limited places where we go to especially during our educational tours.
This is the very first time that I have been to a museum intended for children,
as an adult. Yes.
In the morning, I was able to attend the media event where
they showcased different activities in the museum. I knew very well that the
kids would enjoy it as much as I did. It was like a playhouse that I ever
dreamed of when I was a kid and the only difference is this was reality. In the
afternoon, me and my kids had to go back for them to experience what it is to
be in a “child’s museum.”
Here are the reasons why paying a visit to the children’s
museum is a must:
- Promotes Pretend Play. There was a section there wherein
you can be anyone you would like to be--barber, vendor, pharmacist, baker,
fireman and etc. It was a dream for every child to have such pretend play.
- Promotes
Love for Books. I must admit, their library was a love at first sight!
They have lots of books to choose from and if only I had the big space in
our home, I would transform the kids’ room into that. It was so cozy that
I never want to leave the area anymore.
- Science
Explained. Yes, my love for science will always be there. I love how they
illustrated everything into almost reality. By the time when I have to
make illustrations as to how to explain to the kids what is really
happening in our human body and our world, I know the place to visit
already.
- Promotes
Philippine Culture. In order for us to appreciate our country, we have to
know our Philippine Culture. But you know what? It was my least favorite
subject back when I was in school. I never really get to appreciate it not
until when I stated traveling the country and understanding each culture.
Now I know Philippines is a beautiful country and has a rich culture to
boast.
