After the 5 day long non-stop rain brought by the recent typhoon that hit Manila, we are now slowly going back to our usual grind. J went back to work and I started to do the two-week worth of laundry.
If there’s one good thing brought about by the typhoon is that we have more family bonding time. Not that I wanted to have more typhoons like that but just the cold weather enough for us to snuggle and enjoy movies together.
I am glad that we already survived the typhoon. I’m sure you would wonder why. First is, we weren’t prepared because the non-stop rain started last Saturday. I was feeling weak that time. I didn’t pay visit to the market and buy fresh produce we only brought the most important ones from the grocery. So what happened? We survived our three-day house arrest with what’s inside our cupboard. Oh please don’t judge me if I served my family with instant meals. It’s better than nothing at all. Second is, we ran out of gas! I was already anticipating it two weeks ago but it went out on the very day that it was already flooded outside our gate. The only fortunate thing is we didn’t experience brownout and was still able to cook meals using my electric stove. We were still fortunate that we have clean drinking water as well as stock of instant meals and box goodies from J’s business trip to Bacolod.
The view from our gate. That water is above knee level high.
Come Tuesday morning that the most untoward incident happened. The flood from our gate seeped through our front door already! I was already anticipating it on my mind but was too tired to prepare to lift our stuffs. Good thing J checked the water early morning and that was when our adrenaline started working. We transferred all our stuff at the second floor of our apartment. We were lucky enough that the water just eventually subsided few hours after. But it was really scary that the flood seeped inside our living area!
Yesterday, we finally had the chance to clean the living room. A thorough cleaning I haven’t done in months. If not for the flood we wouldn’t have done it. Worse thing is that J declared an all out war against one ginormous rodent inside our house! That made me nauseated. Eeeekk! Don’t want go into details anymore.
After the two hour cleaning time, I finally called the kids to have supper again in our dining room. I was glad that even though we had too much stress moving everything into a safe place and putting it back again, the little boy showed much appreciation of the sparkling clean living room.
How about you? Did you experience flood during the last typhoon? I hope you’re all safe now.
