Tips In Raising Happy Kids

Image
From the Nestokid Grow Happy Kids  event I attended last month, there was a talk from Ms. Rizason G.T. Ng, a cild psychologist form Ateneo Bulatao Center where she discussed ten factors how to grow happy kids. These factors were from her kids and also from real life experiences. As a child, I have a lot of questions growing up that made me compare my life to my friends. My parents were strict but my dad was unreasonable. He doesn't accept any valid points which is why at some point in my life I have instilled in my mind not to be the parent that he is. And while listening to the talk, I began to realize that, this was really what he lacked as a parent.  In general, all we need to do is to value life. In order to do that, we must respect each and everyone including our children. No matter how young they are, we must value their choices because in return, we also get respected. That is how she generally sums up having happy children. So how do we really grow happy ...

Big Latch On; Tagaytay Hakab Na 2018

Image
Seven years and counting, three kids. I have been breastfeeding my kids for more than seven years and strong. It has been my advocacy since day one and to all the first time mommies to breastfeed their babies because I believe in the power of our breastmilk.  photo credits: Klick Tack Toe photo credits: Klick Tack Toe August is breastfeeding month that is why it is also when we celebrate Hakab Na. This year, Hakab Na already happened in different parts of the country and I am just glad that more and more mommies are already aware of this advocacy. To those who doesn't know, Hakab Na is where mommies simultaneously breastfeed their babies wherein they call it BLO or Big Latch On.  If only schedule permitted, I could’ve attended the Tagaytay Hakab Na 2018, wherein I am an official media partner (hopefully though, I can still do it next year before my youngest weans from breastfeeding). Tagaytay Hakab Na 2018 was organized by the mommy group, Tagaytay...

TSM Review: Maybelline 24 hours Superstay Foundation; Yay or Nay?

Image
In make-up, I believe you should start with a good base. That is why I try it so hard to do my skin care even if it means taking extra five minutes of my night routine. Having a good base also means investing in good make-up base, like primer, moisturizer and foundation. A decent make-up always starts with those. The reason also why I have so much foundations other than any other products in my make-up stash. This time, I tried the latest cult favorite which is the Maybeliine 24 hours Superstay Foundation. The way they named their product is quite tricky because who wants to wear make-up with them for 24 hours? Anyway, let us see if it is true to their name. I got this foundation even before it was officially released here in the Philippines because it was already a hype in the international youtube community. They released 16 shades and if I am not mistaken they only have 6 shades here in the Philippines. I got mine in the shade 220-Natural Beige. Make-up at 8:00am ...

Kids Can Be Entrepreneurs Too

Image
Did you know that growing up I used to dream of having my own store selling fashionable clothes or grocery goods? What inspired me back then was when we were pretend playing and the the paper dolls we used to play when I was a kid. We usually put the clothing paper pieces together and design it to out liking. If you are an 80’s baby, you probably know this. But since I grew up in a family of professionals, they push us to become a doctor, nurse, pilot, lawyer, architect and engineer someday, they would gear us only towards it.  I did become a nurse but there are times when you have to set your dreams aside because you need to prioritize things and in my case is my family. It is only now that I felt the need of having my own business because I can get to be with the kids while taking care of them and earn at the same time. That is when Sophistique Collection  was born. It was a store mainly for mother and daughter/son outfits and later on sells whatever is “in” the ma...

Global smartphone brand Vivo has made a good impression on tech enthusiasts at the SM Cyberzone’s Mobile Fest 2018.  To explain all the goods on Vivo’s latest flagship smartphone—the X21, the brand tapped respected tech experts Mark Macanas of TechPinas and Alora Uy Guerrero of Revu.  The experts discussed Vivo X21’s unlocking technologies, dual rear camera, AI Selfie Camera, AI Game Mode, Hi-Fi, performance, and design.    Alora Uy Guerrero of Revu and Mark Macanas of TechPinas had nothing but praises for Vivo X21 Macanas and Guerrero mentioned that there are two ways to unlock the Vivo X21, through the Face ID Access with Infrared that accurately identifies a user’s facial features even in nighttime and the In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology that replaces the rear fingerprint sensor. BEING NAKED. WHY OR WHY NOT?

Image
I know this topic often gets debated over mommy groups and a lot of mommies have different views about this. Much like Scary Mommy, we stand naked in front our our children.  WHY? Okay first, before you raise your brows on me, I would like to cite our reasons. This was a mutual decision between me and baby daddy so… Our body is a natural thing; it is something given to us by God that we have to cherish it. We want the kids to feel comfortable about themselves and about their body and the way to do it is how we normally do it at home. We go take a bath and dress up and also our kids and not minding we stand naked in front of them--think of Adam and Eve and the creation in the Bible.  FEED THE CURIOUS MIND. When kids start to ask questions like why, how and what, that is the right time to educate them about the anatomy and physiology of our body. AGAIN, you have to explain it to them like how it was explained in our Science books, NO MALICE. The key in doi...

Creating Meals and Memories With Lily's Peanut Butter Spread

Image
When I was a kid, I remember how we used to have these generic glasses and whenever we finish a spread, there will be an addition to the collection. Back then, we only have few selections of spread for our bread, and one of our staple was Lily’s peanut butter spread. It was our all time favorite. Now that I am a mom, it has also been a staple in my grocery list and we never leave the grocery store without it. Imagine our household can finish a jar in a week--that is how my kids loved Lily’s peanut butter spread, the same way we loved it when we were kids.   INNOVATION But through the years, it has already evolved into different variants and added more products to their line. I admire how they cope up with the changing time with their variants. They have our classic favorite which comes in different sizes. The coco jam which is a perfect for sticky rice. Chocolate peanut butter is my son’s favorite because anything chocolate is his thing. They also added texture t...
