TSM Review: Maybelline 24 hours Superstay Foundation; Yay or Nay?

In make-up, I believe you should start with a good base. That is why I try it so hard to do my skin care even if it means taking extra five minutes of my night routine. Having a good base also means investing in good make-up base, like primer, moisturizer and foundation. A decent make-up always starts with those. The reason also why I have so much foundations other than any other products in my make-up stash.

This time, I tried the latest cult favorite which is the Maybeliine 24 hours Superstay Foundation. The way they named their product is quite tricky because who wants to wear make-up with them for 24 hours? Anyway, let us see if it is true to their name.

I got this foundation even before it was officially released here in the Philippines because it was already a hype in the international youtube community. They released 16 shades and if I am not mistaken they only have 6 shades here in the Philippines. I got mine in the shade 220-Natural Beige.

Okay on to the product.

Side by side bottle comparison with Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation
Packaging. I like how they make it very simple, just white cap with the name printed on it. The glass bottle is also transparent because you can easily see the shade from it. It may be a downside for others who loves to travel as it comes in a glass bottle. Otherwise, it still is fine with me. It also comes with a pump which is always a plus.

Formula. The product is not too runny and sticky. It is on the normal side once you pump a pea sized product at the back of your hand. The product dries into a Matte finish and perfect for oily skin.

Coverage. When I started dabbing the foundation on my skin, the first thing that came in my mind was that of Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Foundation. However, the only difference is the consistency of the product. Maybelline Superstay is slighty thicker than of Marc Jacobs but has almost the exact same coverage it gives my face. It finishes into medium to full coverage. I do have to compare them though side by side with my Loreal Infallible Pro Matte. Just be careful in building it as it might tend to get cakey at the end of the day.

Blended on my skin, as you can see there is no visible veins on my hand.

Price. This retails for Php499 in Watsons so it is really a good value for your buck considering that it is a full coverage foundation which lasts for more than 12 hours on my face. So far, it is the best drugstore foundation there is if you are looking for full coverage and most especially if you have oily skin.

Longevity. Matte foundations lasts for 4-6 hours on me without retouching. This foundation lasted for 6 hours or more without retouching. It still looked great even though I had too much activities for the day when I tried it on. It will make your face look dewy but still presentable. After blotting at the six hour mark, it still looks good on my face. It is not blotchy also which is a plus for me especially if you plan to wear this one on special occassions.

My face after 8 hours
Final Verdict. I will highly recommend this foundation to those who have oily to combination skin like mine. For the price point, you can never have any drugstore foundation this good. It did not however oxidize on my face. If you are quite acidic, you should make a swatch of this foundation first before buying. If you also have dry skin and still wants full coverage, you need to prep your skin with mositurizers and use a good primer.
