Bread Pudding Recipe with Custard Sauce

During the past week that I was unplugged from my cyberworld, I was a kitchen slave and tried out some recipes that will boost the appetite of my toddlers as well as the sick eldest. 



So here is a comfort food that you might want to try for yourself. This is an adopted recipe and made few changes on the ingredients, here it is my Bread Pudding with Custard Sauce.


Ingredients:

Bread Pudding


  • 8 cups bread (I used wheat bread on this recipe), cubed
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips, unsweetened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cups fresh milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp Confectioner's sugar
  • 2 tbsp Cinnamon powder
Custard Sauce:
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup fresh milk
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Grease baking dish or ramekins.
  • Fill pan with cubed bread and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, salt and eggs. Whisk until blended.
  • Pour the mixture over the bread and and let it sit for 5 minutes until well absorbed by the bread. 
  • Put the baking dish on a baking tray with half-filled water and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon powder and confectioner's sugar. 
Caramel Sauce:
  • Combine sugar and flour in a pan and whisk in together milk on a low heat. Add butter and vanilla and cook until smooth and thick. 
 Serve and enjoy!
