One of the main reasons people move to new places is because of the things to do in those locations. Maybe you come from a small town or some remote city that just doesn’t offer much in the way of entertainment, learning opportunities, or fun for the family.
In that sense, you really can’t put down the big cities: they certainly carry their weight in stuff to do. For instance, if you’ve been looking at houses for sale in Toronto, you’re probably aware of all the museums there are to see there.
Toronto is a huge multicultural city with a lot of history, so it’s really no surprise that you can find a ton of museums within the city limits.
What are some of the best ones, you may ask? Let’s get into three of them.

Art Gallery of Ontario
You knew we’d be covering art here on this list, so first up, we have the Art Gallery of Ontario. It’s located in Toronto’s Grange Park neighborhood and features almost 100,000 artworks from many eras and cultures.
You’ll find art from classical European painters, African artists, First Nations Canadians, and much more. The Art Gallery of Ontario is beautiful inside and out, but take note: during the ongoing COVID-10 pandemic, this museum is temporarily closed.

Aga Khan Museum
In the intro, we mentioned that Toronto is a multicultural city, and nowhere is that more evident than in the Aga Khan Museum. Located in Toronto’s North York area, the Aga Khan Museum is dedicated to Islamic art and culture. In fact, it is the largest such collection outside of the majority-Muslim countries.
The Aga Khan Museum features pieces from historical Islamic populations alongside modern Islamic groups from around the world. From artwork to furniture to historical writings and other documentation, the Aga Khan Museum collection is gigantic and presents wonderful learning opportunities for visitors of all stripes.
Like the Art Gallery of Ontario, this museum is also temporarily closed.
Royal Ontario Museum
Bringing up the rear is the Royal Ontario Museum. This is perhaps the ultimate museum in Canada. It features pieces of art, world history and culture, and, of course, natural history.
In this museum, you’ll find pretty much every kind of artwork and historical piece you could want: Japanese samurai swords, ancient Greek art, Chinese statues, Arabic writings, Canadian First Nations works, and pieces from Canada’s colonial history.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Royal Ontario Museum also features huge exhibits of dinosaur fossils and extinct mammals from the prehistoric era. There’s just so much to see here that we’re going on record as saying anyone would enjoy a visit to this museum.
Not to sound like a broken record, but yes, this museum is also closed temporarily during the pandemic.
But once all these great museums open up again, be sure to head to Toronto and check them out! You won’t regret it.
