AgriEx; Farm To Table Fruits and Vegetables

It has been more than a year since the government declared the quarantine due to the pandemic. Many Filipinos can feel the burden of buying fresh fruits and vegetables, and it somehow gave them the realization of the importance of agriculture in our lives. Some began backyard gardening, urban gardening, and many people started green living. But sometimes, others are not bound to grow food in their backyards let alone if you have restricted space in your homes. Some are successful in their attempts to hopefully grow their own vegetables, but it entails so much effort, research, and trial and error.

THE REALIZATION

During the first few months into the quarantine, I remembered how our life was in the countryside. I grew up in the province, and my parents made sure we have everything we need in our yard. We have fruits and vegetables, and we wait for harvest time. I could still remember during summer how crazy it can get because of the abundance of mango fruits our trees provide. Whenever we need coconut milk, we will get it from our yard and make coconut milk. We enjoy Starapple, Guava, Pomelo, Mangoes, Coconut, Cacao, Bananas, and many more all year round. I don't even remember my mom buying fruits from the market.

This pandemic made me rethink our priorities. I thought we would never need agriculture because I am so preoccupied with consumerism and the modern lifestyle we have here in the city. I thought we are doing better to do everything in just a few taps on our mobile phones. It dawned on me that the future generation needs to be diversified and have a balance in life. They can enjoy a modern lifestyle and should know the basics of growing food.

THE PROBLEM

During the first few months of quarantine, when every city and region closed its borders, the trucks carrying crops were not allowed to go to the town. Hence the frustration of the farmers and threw away their produce on the side of the roads. It was pretty devastating as the government failed to do something for the farmers--their months' worth of efforts down the drain.

THE SOLUTION

More private sectors stood up for the farmers and eventually helped the farmers reach the consumers. One of which is AgriEx Farm to Fork which launched a few months ago. They aim to bring the produce of the farmers directly to the consumers. It eliminates the excessive top-up cost of bringing the product to the market and consumers. Now more farmers will benefit from this move and eventually will gain profit too. On the other hand, consumers will get to enjoy fresh produce straight from the farmers.

If you are a big household that consumes a lot of vegetables and fruits, you might want to consider ordering from them and they will deliver it to your shipping address.
