As you all know, I have already started and braved myself to become a mompreneur. It took me a lot of time and finally decided to pursue my passion. I want something close to my heart so it won’t be tasky for me to do—which is fashion and food!
If you have a spare time, I would like to share with you sort-of story behind it, as this post has been sitting on my draft for a long time already enough that Mommy Pehpot had to feature me first before I can even post this.
Ever wonder why I started the mompreneur journey? Well, for the kids mainly. But the inspiration on coming up with it has much deeper influence.
My mom has always been my inspiration. I consider her successful when it comes to financial aspect because she is the person who rarely seeks help “financially” from others even from my dad. She was able to raise us and fund our studies when my dad lost his job during our college years. Imagine her sending all of us in a Catholic private school and as you all know, miscellaneous fees are not that cheap. She instilled in us that we should be able to sustain on our own even when we have our own families.
At least I did or should I say I have (well sort of). When I was still working and by the time I settled down and had kids, I had ample amount of savings from numerous banks, time deposits until such time I had to take them out to sustain my finances. You may ask, why? I have lived a life wherein I don’t ask money from my parents already and even from Boboy. Why am I saying this? Because I believe in women’s abilities to sustain themselves especially when it comes to WANTS. I must say I am very frugal with money and always on the practical side. It was at least the very trait I learned from my mom. When I had my son, I worked part time pre-school teacher, financial consultant and other freelance jobs to sustain all my bills. It was hard yes, but I didn’t regret it because I worked happily while taking care of my kids. The kids had always been my inspiration in all I do.
The birth of my store is due to my desire to be with my children and earn at the same time without having to beg for my needs. It has never been the part of me ever since. If I spend money, it should come from my pocket and a result of hard work. I have lingered too much on the thought that I can do everything and I believe every woman can. Being a mompreneur is no easy job since I have to be a mom, a cook, a sister, and daughter, wife and teacher, accountant and house manager all at the same time. But you know what? I love it and I treasure every single day I am privileged to do it.
But this budding mompreneur has still a lot of things to work on and learn the ropes of every business. Hopefully, I can still do it even with two demanding kids in tow. Now at least I get to be with them still every single day.
