When Sorry Isn't Enough

It’s a parent’s primary duty to raise our kids and protect them from any harm. As a parent of a toddler, I try my very best to raise my kids the best I see fit. But what if beyond circumstances suddenly an innocent kid was accused of hurting person? As a parent how will you deal with it?

The kids and I went to a nearby mall for a weekend bonding. We decided to have dinner at the food court adjacent to the grocery store since it was the nearest fast food I know. After we had our orders, we walked our way to vacant table. I carefully held my kids as we go through the tables and chairs because the area was crowded that time. After we settle down and prepare for our dinner, a lady in her mid 40’s and big body built approached me with rage in her eyes and in a loud voice told me, “Miss, yung bata yung bata dinale ako dito oh. Wag kase kayo dadaan sa masisikip na lugar. Yung bata dinale ako dito. Ayan oh!” I was caught unguarded because she came out of nowhere and she was really furious. My mind was still puzzled and there was only one word came out of my mouth. “I’m sorry.” Then she left and sarcastically said, “sorry?!” While I was trying to feed the kids, thoughts kept rushing in my mind and trying to rewind what happened. It was way impossible for my son to hurt her since I was looking at him, holding his hand and kept telling him not to touch anything and for a woman her age to be furious to a kid who has a medium built compared to a three year old kid who could impossibly hurt her as she claimed. I thought of taking a photo of her or even tell her that if she was really badly hurt then I would suggest that she goes to a nearby police station and have the incident blottered. On a second thought too, we were in a food court and it was supposed to be crowded area not unless she wants VIP treatment, then she should go to a fine dining restaurant. Or, she could have told me in a nice manner that my innocent kid hurt her in a nice manner but I just can’t imagine what kind of pain did my kid did to her to be furious like that. Anyway, may she find enlightenment in her soul.

My dates
Now, I just don’t understand why people like her even exist. It was the very first time I had to deal with an accusation involving an innocent kid. This post is not intended to spread negative vibes in this cyberplace but to share as a mother my daily experiences and for parents to keep informed that there are few people like her. As a parent, how will you feel about it?
