It was just yesterday when we decided to bring her to her pedia for her vaccine shot when she started coughing and nose dripping with mucous. So once again it’s a pedia visit fail. It has been always like this. We tried to schedule her two weeks ago but worst was my kids both got sick. Sigh. Now I am giving her antibiotics plus nebulization and more vitamins. I hope she gets better. Thanks to my aunt pedia for supplying me with medicines I don’t have to rush to drugstores to buy them.
Anyway, I hope my little girl gets well soon so we can have her vaccine schedule done. Her sickness caused a lot of delay already. Even if she has runny nose, coughs like a granny she is still hyperactive. I am just glad that she’s not feeling weak.

I know for some mommies you may have hard time in giving their kids medicines especially for infants who are so taste sensitive. Here are some few reminders on medication:
- Medications especially for babies should have precise amount. I suggest you measure their medicines using a syringe, just remove the needle and you can aspirate the medicine from the bottle. No sharing of medication syringe among your kids especially if they are all sick.
- Oral medicines should be administered in an upright position on the side of the mouth to prevent aspiration.
- Do not force your kids to take their medicines because the more they cry the more they will oppose taking medicines and worse even the vitamins. If they are taking antibiotics just give them a fruit afterwards to neutralize the taste.
- Cough and cold medicines shouldn’t be followed immediately with water. The medicine should loosen the phlegm when ingested.
- Dark colored bottles should be stored in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Wash the medicine, dome and T-piece of your nebulizer before and after use because some inhalation medicines leaves salt residue inside.
- Antibiotics should follow strict timing schedule and should be taken with full stomach unless there’s a doctor’s order for empty stomach. Adjust the medication timing according to your kids’ sleeping pattern for you to be able to achieve the desired frequency. If the medication is scheduled 6am – 2pm – 10pm an hour before or after is still considered within the timing. But if the medication is given 2 hours after, you will have to adjust the timing of the next dose of medication.

Anyway, will share a funny situation a while ago with my kids. I was preparing our lunch and the kids were playing when my little girl accidentally wiped her nose on my little boys’ arm.
Dodo : Mama!!! Help help! Pweese! Eeeeww! Wipe han! (he doesn’t have d when he pronounces hand)
Dodo : Yook! Eeew! Pweese wipe Didi nose!
Ok. Arte lang ng anak ko. Haha.
